Throughout 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a heightened number of Marylanders to find themselves in need of quality health care. MHCC partnered with the State in responding to the crisis, ensuring all Marylanders have access to quality health care and the ability to make informed decisions regarding their health care, regardless of location or socioeconomic status. In its 2020 annual report, MHCC provides insight into the developments in health care access for all Marylanders.

In order to highlight the open doors of health care in Maryland, Astriata's approach to this report focused on a design element based on the Maryland State flag, resembling an open door. This door element is repeated throughout the document, coupled with diverse photography which represents the range of Marylanders whom MHCC benefits. The red and yellow palette throughout the layout reflects the colors of the State and the bright future of health care to which MHCC works toward achieving. Clear section and page hierarchy was an important aspect in creating a layout which makes key pieces of content easy to locate. A printed copy of the report was created along with a digital version, optimized for online viewing and accessibility for all by meeting Section 508 compliance and WCAG guidelines, Level AA.
