Astriata Wins a Prestigious w3 Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts

The Award Honors Astriata’s Animated Video for Geothermal Technologies About an Innovative Approach to Limitless Clean, Renewable Energy

Baltimore, MD, Dec. 27, 2021–Competing against more than 3,000 entries from around the globe, Astriata, a creative agency and Maryland-certified woman-owned, minority-owned small business, announces today that it received a prestigious w3 Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an assembly of leading visual arts professionals dedicated to embracing progress and evolving interactive and traditional media.

AIVA’s w3 Awards program, now in its 16th year, celebrates digital excellence and is judged by top-tier executives from acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms, from Majestyk and Media Monks to Conde Nast, Disney, Microsoft, and Wired. International agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and small firms alike can enter the competition in categories that include websites, videos, marketing, social, mobile, and podcasts.

Astriata’s award falls in the competition’s “marketing” category and honors an animated video created for a client, Geothermal Technologies (GTI), working to develop innovative technological solutions to increase global access to clean, economically competitive geothermal energy. Mixing animated images of drilling into the earth’s core with voiceovers and sparse copy, Astriata’s video breaks down GTI’s new and complex approach to geothermal energy production in clear, concise terms that the target audience, potential investors, can understand.

Michael Linkinhoker from Link Studio, Astriata’s biocommunications arm, tapped into his experience and skills as an illustrator and animator to help Geothermal tell their story. “We are thrilled and honored to bring this paradigm-changing story about GTI’s ground-breaking technology to the world,” Linkinhoker says. “The beautiful challenge was to communicate the complexities of this vast, untapped resource below our feet in a way that shows its elegant design and its potential for humanity.”
